Our History
Before the advent of MNsure or healthcare navigators, there were community organizations concerned about Minnesotans access to affordable healthcare. As MNsure was being established in 2013, members of those community organizations came together to advocate for a system that served all Minnesotans. Many members transitioned into the role of navigator. In that role, they saw the successes and challenges of the new healthcare enrollment system. To this day, navigators have a unique perspective as frontline assistors and advocates for those seeking affordable coverage.
In 2016, a small group of navigators came together to advocate for a sustainable navigator system and to address barriers that prevented consumers from obtaining and retaining affordable coverage. They called themselves the Navigator Coalition. That small group of navigator organizations has grown to include over 30 organizations serving residents across the state. They represent large organizations with multiple navigators and small organizations serving the needs of discrete communities. Together, Coalition members work daily to address challenges and make healthcare coverage accessible to everyone in Minnesota.
If you share a commitment to serving communities and a passion to help realize the promise of affordable coverage for all in Minnesota, we invite you to join the Navigator Coalition.
